ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Akron Engineering Consultant’s Group strives to conduct its business that ensures the protection of the environment we lived in.

Our approach to business is guided by commitments to the following principles: Leadership, Inclusivity, Transparency, Integrity, Stewardship and Continuous Improvement. Our business faces many challenges and opportunities. Due to their direct impact on us and our stakeholders, we have prioritized the following issues that need to be addressed: 1) Health, Safety & Quality 2) Resource Consumption, 3) Energy & Water conservation, This policy will apply to all projects managed by our organization. Staff and contractors are expected to uphold objectives under this policy to the fullest extent possible within prevailing budgets and to inform management of financial and other barriers to achieving goals. We acknowledge, that we have limited influence over third parties whose projects we may support but may have limited controls, on the overall management of the projects. While we cannot control the decisions of these parties, we commit to educating them of our policy and encourage them to align operating practices with policy objectives. Our attention to environmental, social and economic responsibility includes working within the law and voluntarily exceeding legal requirements in order to be innovative and demonstrate leadership on the issues that are important to us and our stakeholders including the community. As we design experiences, execute projects and evaluate our success we are able to choose every day in big and small ways how our actions and words build a better quality of life for our employees, clients, project teams, and suppliers.

The Executive management of Akron ensures that its Quality Policy is understood. This is accomplished through training, communication, and displays. The Policy is implemented by means of documentation, and training about the Business Management System to meet the requirements of the Standard. The policy is maintained through Quality Management Systems audits and corrective and preventive action and reviewed for continuing suitability through periodic Management Reviews. Further, this Quality Policy is supported by the quality objectives listed in the Quality Manual
.
Meeting these standards is the responsibility of the entire team. Akron is therefore committed to working with all stakeholders to support the effective operation of the company’s Quality Management System and the achievement of goals and specific Quality Objectives.

A proven expert in the development and implementation of sustainability, cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.

A Senior Director with extensive project quality management & inspection, in-service and integrity inspection in oil and gas capital and sustainable projects, corporate quality, health, safety and environment management, business process improvements, and strategic business development. Recognized for strong client relationship management and leadership skills. A proven expert in the development and implementation of corporate sustainability, cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ashraf Halim, P.Eng. MEng

A Senior Director/Project Manager, Partner and Board Advisor

A veteran in the field of Civil engineering and construction with several leadership positions within Canada and the middle east Ashraf brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Akron in all facets of the company.

Hisham Madi, P.Eng

Certified API 510 & API 570 Inspector, CWB - Level 2

An internationally experienced Sr. Inspection/Integrity Engineer with 17+ years of advanced expertise in materials & metallurgical engineering, project management, and integrity/reliability engineering for static & rotating equipment in oil & gas (Onshore/Offshore) and mining industries.Experience in QA/QC inspection engineering, quality management. Strong knowledge of International codes & standards especially API, ASME, ASTM, CSA, and DS-1. Substantial experience in failure investigation and root cause failure analysis,

 

Ehab Hamza, P.Eng

Project Manager B. Sc., MEng, Geotechnical Department

Ehab has 14+ years of civil engineering experience, during which, he managed numerous geotechnical investigations and foundation design for commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential developments. He has worked on projects involving dynamic loads, heavy foundation loads, slope stability analysis and problematic soils. Ehab has spent four years as a consultant engineer for a US based company, working with a programming team to develop a commercial structural design software

Lena Salami

B. Sc., Civil EIT

Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, EIT. Three years of experience as a Municipal/Project Engineer. Excellent communication skills, self-starter and capable of working in team environment. Experienced in computer applications like AutoCAD, MS office, SAP 2000, EPANET, CIVIL 3D

Thaer Salameh, P.Eng

Certified API 510 , API 570 , API 580, Alberta Boiler and Pressure Vessel authorized in-service inspector (PESL), IBPV

Chief Inspector, Lead Integrity Engineer, to offer a versatile engineering based background which includes expertise in the areas of developing, upgrading & implementing Quality, Inspections, Asset Integrity & related Regulatory Compliance requirements for facilities’ assets, while becoming known for my versatility, stewardship and intellectual abilities.

Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering with over 10 years of experience. Expert on electrical construction, infrastructure, project engineering and management. Experienced in creating electrical engineering drawings, IFC, EHT Preparing and maintaining resource loading, 90 day, and job completion schedules, electrical and instrumentation estimate packages and leading groups of people upwards of 50.

Farhan Khan

Bs.c in civil engineering and graduated with Degree in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering Design from McMaster University, experience of civil construction, contract administrator, QA/QC, project management, project coordination Over 15 years of experience in various areas including Municipal Infrastructure. projects such as, watermain & sewer projects, Transmission line project management, client liaison, site inspection, contract administration, structural design and analysis.

Aiman Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Concentration in Accounting, SCMP, CPSM, MCIPS comes with a wealth of experience in procurement. Working on projects exceeding 10 Million on a variety of commercial and residential projects as well as specialized application projects.

Mohammad Eassa P.Eng

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Essa is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer with APEGA who has over 15 years of experience in Design, QA/QC, RT, UT, PT, MT  API 510, 570, 1169 and Construction of municipal buildings, gas plants, pipelines, Electrical Power Stations, petrochemical and oil Refinery and Oil sand industries projects. 

Alberto Meza-Morales

Civil Engineer

Alberto has 10+ years of Civil Engineering experience, project engineering, project management, inspection, and field engineering for a varied range of tasks related to oil & gas pipelines/facilities, earth works, grading, site preparation, wet ponds, ground disturbance for utility crossings, clearing & restoration, sediment & erosion control, sanitary & storm sewer systems, potable water systems, concrete works,  and roads for municipal, land development and energy infrastructure major projects in Northern Alberta  

Femi Baiyewun

Senior Civil Engineer

With a seasoned professional blending problem-solving engineering capability with business initiative particularly in renewable energy and small business research, leveraging on over 28 years of progressive engineering and management experiences for efficiency, sustainability and profitability. Launched a rethink on renewable energy in natural resources in water, wind and solar energy exploitation in retrofitted into regulatory /permitting approval processes in prospecting agro-based and mining business development. Retrofitted energy management into localized resource management that benefited the municipality in various creative engagement in the municipality and professional circles in terms of infrastructural advisory participation for urbanization and sub divisional development.

Marcel Zulic, M.Sc., I.W.E., P.Eng

Welding Engineer

With 25+ years of industrial Professional welding engineering experience, holds M.Sc., Master of Science in Welding Engineering from University of Alberta, B.Sc., Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from University of Sarajevo and he is also I.W.E., International Welding Engineer. His projects in the oil & gas industry included Suncor’s Firebag Oil Sands, Suncor’s Mildred Lake Coker Unit, Opti’s SAGD project at Long Lake, Shell’s Albian Expansion Project 1, CNRL Horizon, IOL Kearl, Statoil’s Hydro, Husky Sunrise, Meg Energy Christina Lake, Keyera, Plain Midstream, Conoco Philips, and Cenovus Energy, and pipeline projects in the USA with Shell’s Apalachia pipeline and Kinder Morgan in-service pipeline. Marcel has extensive experience working with engineering welding companies in developing new and revising existing welding procedure specifications WPS.

 

Corporate Social Responsibility

Akron Engineering Consultants Group Ltd. has progressed significantly since its inception in 2015 and the support from the local community in Fort McMurray played a significant part in this transformation. As part of the ongoing effort to be a good corporate citizen, Akron Engineering has participated in various series of community volunteering work that will allow for beneficial changes in the community we live in. The following are efforts completed by Akron Engineering:

Habitat for Humanity Wood Buffalo

Akron Engineering volunteered to provide engineering support to the organization when required in regards to the Railway Home Rebuild.

Language Training Program for Apprentices

Akron Engineering team members participated in the Language Training Program for Apprentices Mentorship Circles at Keyano College, providing mentorship to new immigrants undergoing trades apprenticeship training.

Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC)

One of AECG Directors is the President of PEMAC Fort McMurray Chapter. A non-profit organisation that provides an avenue for networking and business development among members through regular networking events.

Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists, Fort Mcmurray Branch

AECG team members participated in APEGA’s sponsored events/engineering outreach and volunteering activities, such as judging for science fairs.

Keyano Business Support Program

Akron Engineering’s team supported several different classes at Keyano College to help them with different real-life aspects of a business as required by the curriculum for their courses

BrainSTEM Alliance

AECG team members volunteered for STEM events, such as annual Girls Inc. Operation SMART program, new Entrepreneurship program with the YMCA, and coaching in science competitions, on a regular basis.

Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce (FMCOC)

One of AECG Directors also volunteered as a member of FMCOC land and transportation committee.
