This policy will apply to all projects managed by our organization. Staff and contractors are expected to uphold objectives under this policy to the fullest extent possible within prevailing budgets and to inform management of financial and other barriers to achieving goals. We acknowledge, that we have limited influence over third parties whose projects we may support but may have limited controls, on the overall management of the projects. While we cannot control the decisions of these parties, we commit to educating them of our policy and encourage them to align operating practices with policy objectives. Our attention to environmental, social and economic responsibility includes working within the law and voluntarily exceeding legal requirements in order to be innovative and demonstrate leadership on the issues that are important to us and our stakeholders including the community. Akron is committed to the continual improvement of its performance by the monitoring of safety and quality issues and through involvement with customers, suppliers, regulatory authorities, and the community. The Executive management of Akron ensures that its Quality Policy is understood. This is accomplished through training, communication, and displays. The Policy is implemented by means of documentation, and training about the Business Management System to meet the requirements of the Standard. The policy is maintained through Quality Management Systems audits and corrective and preventive action and reviewed for continuing suitability through periodic Management Reviews. Further, this Quality Policy is supported by the quality objectives listed in the Quality Manual. Meeting these standards is the responsibility of the entire team. Akron is therefore committed to working with all stakeholders to support the effective operation of the company’s Quality Management System and the achievement of goals and specific Quality Objectives.

In compliance with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta’s (APEGA) requirements, Akron implements APEAG’s Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) to assure the following are applied on all Akron’s practice

  1. Technical competence;
  2. Quality control procedures;
  3. Compliance with relevant codes and regulations;
  4. Adherence to documentation guidelines;
  5. Akron’s organization structure; and
  6. Lines of Professional responsibilities.

Akron is committed to upholding high ethical standers in accordance with APEGA’s Ethics Code and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s (RMWB) Workplace Inclusion Charter.

 This PPMP is meant to ensure professional conduct through the organization, thus; serving the public interest and upholding the public trust in the engineering profession. By maintaining a culture of professionalism; we serve our clients in an atmosphere of confidence and trust.

Akron’s organizational structure consists of senior management and our in-house  administrative/technical staff. Considering Akron’s small size; we regularly enlist the services of external consultants; thus, our organizational structure might differ, depending on the nature of any given project.

When an external consultant is needed to supplement in-house resources, it is the responsibility of the assigned project coordinator to liaise between Akron and the external consultant.

Dennis M. Heinzlmeir, P.Eng.

Marketing & Operations Director

Dennis Heinzlmeir, P.Eng., is a maintenance, engineering and business process professional with more 30 years of experience working in the maintenance, EPC, training, and management consulting industries. He has an extensive business background, including all aspects of M&R, engineering, quality management, lean execution principles and techniques, asset management, project management, and safety. He has conducted FMEA and RCM studies and tracked the effectiveness of maintenance activities and tactics. 

Nayef Mahgoub, P.Eng., MBA

Managing Director

Founder and Managing Director of Akron Engineering, Nayef, a senior engineer with 30+ years of extensive experience in civil, geotechnical, structural, and environmental engineering, reliability, projects management, coaching, and business development areas. Recognized for strong technical/teaching skills, client relationship management and business development skills. A proven expert in the development and implementation of sustainability, cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ashraf Abdel Halim, P.Eng., MEng.

Overseas Operations Director

Co-founder with over 27 years’ experience handling Engineering and Construction projects. With 22 years experience in leading Civil Engineering and Construction Project Management positions. Main duties included hiring, managing and training of engineering staff, technical coordination between design and construction offices, liaison with municipalities, chasing utility connections and site service for projects.

Rodolfo Macias, AAA, MRAIC

Intern Architect

Rodolfo is highly skilled in building technologies, interior design, architectural area planning and drafting. He is Proficient in hand sketching drafts and computer assisted drawings. He has an exceptional counseling and leadership skills. He possess distinctive qualities to maneuver challenges and realize objectives.

Ehab Hamza, P.Eng.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Ehab has 14+ years of civil engineering experience, during which, he managed numerous geotechnical investigations and foundation design for commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential developments. He has worked on projects involving dynamic loads, heavy foundation loads, slope stability analysis and problematic soils. Ehab has spent four years as a consultant engineer for a US based company, working with a programming team to develop a commercial structural design software

Scott Truman, P.Eng.

Senior Electrical Engineer

Scott has a Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering with over 10 years of diverse experience. Expert on electrical construction, infrastructure, project engineering and management. Experienced in creating electrical engineering drawings, IFC, EHT Preparing and maintaining resource loading, 90 day, and job completion schedules, electrical and instrumentation estimate packages and leading groups of people upwards of 50.

Moe ElRefaei, P.Eng.

Senior Electrical Engineer

Mr. Refaei is a Professional Engineer with a specialized expertise in Power System Electrical Engineering with extensive experience in MV / LV power generation and distribution systems. He has hands-on knowledge of Protection Relays, Transformers, Metering, Primary and Secondary Switchgears, Motors and Motor Control Centers (MCC), UPS, Battery and Battery Chargers, E-Houses, etc.

Sohail Ahmad, P.Eng., MBA

Process Safety Engineer

Over 19 years of experience in the field of Environment, Health , Safety and Process Safety Management (PSM) in Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry. Enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated leader in Safety and Process Safety who performs effectively under pressure and thrives on challenges is ready to work as a consultant in field of Environment, Safety & Process Safety Management.

 

Mohammad Essa, P.Eng.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Essa is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer with APEGA who has over 15 years of experience in Design, QA/QC, RT, UT, PT, MT  API 510, 570, 1169 and Construction of municipal buildings, gas plants, pipelines, Electrical Power Stations, petrochemical and oil Refinery and Oil sand industries projects.

Amr Shalkamy, EIT

Transportation Engineer

Amr has over seven years of experience in transportation engineering. He possesses wide experience in road safety, road design, and traffic operations. He has worked on several projects in Alberta and has successfully delivered design packages and technical reports to many stakeholders and partners. He always uses his excellent technical and writing skills to prepare winning RFP submittals. Amr has wide experience working with transportation software including AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Synchro.

Kyle Hunter, T.T.

Project Coordinator

Kyle is a graduate of Engineering Design and Drafting Technology Diploma from NAIT. He has extensive knowledge in processing, mechanical, electrical, municipal, and structural design. He is talented in multiple 2D and 3D design software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Civil 3D, with experience in project scheduling, project management, and construction administration.  

Samah Beniameen, P.Eng.

Junior Mechanical Engineer

Samah Beniameen is a focused, objective orientated mechanical engineer with a vast amount of experience in her field. She shows great drafting skills obtained through years of designing. She can read and interpret plans and specifications recognizing technical requirements. She has conducted many other building assessments and site visit inspections, giving her relevant experience. She provides some recommendations of alternate methods of construction to meet the intent of each related code.

Kinjal Baraiya, B.E., Mechanical

Mechanical Project Management Support

Kinjal has bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Gujarat Technological University in India. He is working as a Junior Mechanical Specialist and pursuing EIT status with APEGA. He specializes in building proposals and coordinating from project start to project completion.

Mohamad Hamad, EIT

Junior Electrical Engineer

Mohammad (Moe) Hamad has a bachelors in Electrical Engineering from University of Calgary. During his engineering practice with Akron, he attained experience on the electrical aspects of construction, infrastructure, project engineering and management. Moe is a quick learner and capable of multitasking, as he receives initial enquiries received from clients, prepare proposals in coordination with relevant team members, and follow up on submitted designs/proposals with clients.   

Imran Quadri Syed, B.E., Civil, M.S.

Civil Project Management Support

Imran has a bachelors in Civil Engineering from Gulbarga University, Karnataka, India and a Masters in City & Regional Planning from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran, KSA. He has over 10 years of experience working in the field of GIS.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Akron Engineering Consultants Group Ltd. has progressed significantly since its inception in 2015 and the support from the local community in Fort McMurray played a significant part in this transformation. As part of the ongoing effort to be a good corporate citizen, Akron Engineering has participated in various series of community volunteering work that will allow for beneficial changes in the community we live in. The following are efforts completed by Akron Engineering:

Habitat for Humanity Wood Buffalo

Akron’s staff volunteer to provide engineering support to the organization when required in regards to Home Rebuilding.

Language Training Program for Apprentices

Akron’s staff members participate in the Language Training Program for Apprentices Mentorship Circles at Keyano College, providing mentorship to new immigrants undergoing trades apprenticeship training.

PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada

Akron’s Managing Director is President of PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada Fort McMurray Chapter. A non-profit organisation that provides an avenue for networking and business development among members through regular networking events.

Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (APEGA)

AECG staff members participate in APEGA’s sponsored events/engineering outreach and volunteering activities, such as judging for science fairs, and mentorship. 

Emergency Social Services (ESS)

Akron’s senior staff volunteer as Board of Directors members for the ESS in the RMWB.

Keyano Business Support Program

Akron Engineering’s team supports several different classes at Keyano College to help them with different real-life aspects of a business as required by the curriculum for their courses

AECG team members volunteered for STEM events, such as annual Girls Inc. Operation SMART program, new Entrepreneurship program with the YMCA, and coaching in science competitions, on a regular basis.

Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce (FMCOC)
